King of Atra
Requirements
The throne has always been held by a Veran, with ruling dynasties chosen from among the most magically-gifted noble houses of Atra.
Appointment
A reigning monarch is able to name his or her heir, but it is ultimately the Diet of Magi's decision to bestow the crown. Typically, as long as the named successor is magically talented enough to perform his or her duties and also likely to maintain the status quo among the houses, he or she is accepted unanimously and crowned in a closed session of the Diet.
