Welcome to The World of Othlorias

Welcome to your new fantasy world!

This is the world of Othlorias, in which we'll be exploring the Continent of Esseas, and the Western Continent of Tyrean. For most of the campaign we expect to stay on the Esseas side, but you never know where the adventure will take you!   Thsi setting, primarily set within The Ondari Dominion is intended as one of a dark, gritty, gothic high fantasy in which death and disaster are never more than footsteps away.   This wiki or players handbook, for lack of better term; is meant to act as your guide to the staging of the world to allow you to find your character's place within it. Inside the players handbook you will find a primer on the available (and not available) races, their background, and how they fit into my world versus that other fantasy series. You will also find a primer on history, kingdoms of the land, house rules which I anticipate using, and more. This docket also only represents a fraction of the wealth of information and lore that the world has in store.   It is also meant to both inspire and constrain you. By listing cities, places, events, races, faction, and more; I'm hoping to inspire you in your character creation, and for you to find your character a place the world, but also to have an understanding of limitations are. If something here inspired you to have an idea that isn't listed here, that's even better! Much of the background (some of which is hidden) for Elves, Dwarves, Kenku and the Zentherian Dynasty was created by the questions and content, asked and created by you, or previous players; and has now been fully integrated into the world for everyone to enjoy moving forward. Likewise the world is incomplete, and always will be. Until we start, everything in here is subject to change; if you think something is "lame" or "weak" as is, just mention it and we'll make it better. If you want to create your own corner of world through a racial sub group, organization, political movement, etc. then lets do it!   I have pulled inspiration from many, many different sources. Some information is lifted more directly than others. In most cases I've attempted to alter, and change the information to suite and fit into my world. Other pieces of information, such some Gods which were created for the D&D world have have lifted almost exactly as is, because they already fit well. Its likely that some points in time you'll know where the references are from, but others will not. Please refrain from calling these situations out as it can break the immersion for those who are not familiar.   Some pages have distinctly less material than others. There is one of two reasons for this; the first is that I simply have yet to fully explore that corner of the lore, and would invite you to help fill it in if it piques your interest! The second reason is that there is possibly information which I have chosen to keep hidden, that will be (hopefully) revealed at a later date.   Welcome, and enjoy!

What you can expect from me

As your DM, you expect the highest level of input from me. I'll do my best to always be prepared for sessions, with interesting, challenging, and hopefully thought provoking encounters and fights. I put a great deal of energy and effort into making this the best experience possible, and I do it because I love it! I consider all the games as a performance; from the music, to the battlefield, I aim to provide the most immersive experience I can. But I'm also still learning, I'm going to make mistakes, and sub-par encounters, but I'll continue to work towards the best experience I can for everyone!

What I expect of you the player

The role of the player is as important as the DM, for without the players, there is no game or story. But, launching into a multi-month running campaign comes with its own set of expectations from you the player.
  • Ensure you learn the rules for your character, and general game rules; and come prepared for the game (pen, pencil, leveled up, etc.)
  • If committing to the campaign, the game on some level must be a priority to attend over other minor social events (at least 2/3rds of the time)
  • Provide feedback to the DM on whats working and what's not
  • Actively participate on the table, in combat, and in social encounters
  • Have Fun!
