In the heat of the forges a things true nature is revealed. The Forgebound were once a warrior people, perhaps it will be again.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Shorter than most the average Forgebound comes in at around 5 foot 4 inches. Most Forgebound are thick built with a tough skin that's not fireproof. Most Forgebound go through a rite of passage with the outcome being the imbuing of coloured fire resistant tattoos similar to geometrically cyberpunk stylised tattoos.   Each Forgebound has 4 limbs with two ending in clawed feet and the other two ending in rough hands. As a Forgebound grows older the skin on their hands begins to crack from the heat creating a personal pattern of tough semi armored plates.   Most Forgebound have thick locks of black hair. Most of the smiths and factory workers prefer to cut their hair short or style it into dreadlocks that are easy to keep out of the way. While it's not common a number of hobgoblins carry recessive genes that cause small horns or spikes to protrude from their head either singularly or in pairs. Though rare cases are seen where a Forgebound child is born with a full crown of spikes or horns giving them a fiendish and strange appearance.

Genetics and Reproduction

Forgebound reproduce at a similar timeline to humans. Though their children reach adulthood by the age of 15 their average life comes to an end at around the age of 87. Though the oldest known Forgebound survived to the age of 98.

Growth Rate & Stages

Forgebound grow at a rate slightly faster than humans with males reaching peak maturity at the age of 14 but don't stop growing till they reach 19. Female reaching peak maturity at the age of 14 and stop growing at the age of 17.   During their 14th both the males and females of the species go through the "Rite of the Forge" where they receive the fire resisting tattoos. They receive one composed by their family which rests on their right shoulder. A tattoo they designed on their left arm and their tribes design on their back and sides of their abdomen. Should a Forgebound couple into another tribe the tattoo upon their back is altered with the new tribe adding in artistic touches to signify the Forgebounds dual tribality.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Forgebound are like most humanoids and they consume a varied omnivorous diet. Though they do consume more iron rich foods than the other races and have a preference for raising and eating Crag Scuttlers.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

Most Forgebound are comfortable in both natural and unnatural light. Due to their hobgoblin heritage all Forgebound can naturally see in the dark without light though colours do not come through with this night vision.

All Forgebound have a low amount of body fat with a larger % of muscle mass due to their physical work life. Even those who do other non metallurgical jobs maintain a good physique due to their hobgoblin heritage being a warlike race.

Age – Forgebound reach adulthood at age 14 and live up to 80 years.   Alignment – The Forgebound favor lawful good. Taking pride in their hard working, community minded attitude and how it separates them from the Draco-scions   Darkvision – Due to their heritage the forgebound have retained their ability to see in both dark and dimly lit conditions. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can't discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.   Speed – your base walking speed is 30 feet.   Forgebound Intuition – You gain proficiency in smithing tools and have advantage on Intelligence (history) checks when remembering information about weapons and armor.   Rite of the Forge – You have resistance to fire damage.   Natural Workhorses – You ignore the first level of exhaustion you would take. You must complete a long rest before you can use this ability again.   Forge Training – You are proficient with one weapon of your choice that does not have the heavy, two-handed or special property. As part of a short rest, you can create a personalised version of the weapon you've chosen through the use of smith's tools and strange magic from your heritage. To do this you must have access to some materials that include metal: a simple or martial weapon, a suit of armor, ten pieces of ammunition, a set of tools or another metal object as per the DM's discretion. Weapons created in this way are hard to wield for other and are only usable by you. Due to their cobbled together and personal nature most merchants will not want to purchase a weapon made this way from you.
