The material was discovered long Before the Return of Man (BMR) by Xilrel The Great Smith, founded of Mel-Thanlor and House Xilrel. The finding of this material allowed House Xilrel to protect their ancient forest of tall Osgaror Trees that were said to be planted by the first Elves. Xilrel The Great Smith used his powerful magic to forge many blades. King Tannatar Xilrel, one of Xilrel's descendants, destroyed the only known mine of the metal and those who knew its location swore to never speak of the site again.
