The Bastard Rebellion
The Crown of the Kingdom of Kortarra has long been known to heavily tax its citizens, keeping the poor and the destitute down and hungry while the nobles and the aristocracy of the kingdom remain fat and wealthy. As a result of this long running oppression, unrest amongst the masses of Kortarra is commonplace and though an uprising or two is not uncommon within the kingdom, very few take hold for more that a few days or weeks at most due to their frequent lack of organization, resources and training, compared to the might of the far better equipped and well-trained Kortarran Military, who are particularly practiced in putting down would-be rebellions.
Believed by many to be a direct successor to the Stone's Throw Rebellion, the Bastard rebellion was decades in the making.
Founded and lead by the illusive Liam Kortis and commanded by his four lieutenants:
- Benjamin Caldwell, second son of a lesser Kortarran noble house and a gifted Mage and ex-Venator within the Arcanum Unifica
- Countess Katherine Greysteele, widow Countess of The City of Avalbourne and the source of most of the Bastard Rebellion's financing
- Rulana of Synika, mysterious Seer who's prophecies are said to have predicted the rise of the rebellion, the death of King Ulrich Gulthum and Liam Kortis' eventual rise to power.
- Takamato Tashiro, skilled tactician with command experience from his time within the initially successful Stone's Throw Rebellion in control of Liam Kortis' combat forces and operations.
Public Agenda
The Rebellion wishes to overthrow the current leadership of Kortarra by any means necessary to return what they claim to be the rightful heir of the Royal House of Kortis to the throne. Their methods are extreme, including sabotage, guerilla tactics and violence to an extent that could be considered outright terrorism. They speak of liberating the lower classes of Kortarra and tearing down the privileged noble class, however many people of all classes great or small are often faced with the fallout of this radical groups actions.
