The Rosebud Mace

This flail appears to be a masterwork mace of cold forged iron, topped by a detailed rosebud with small thorns protruding from the shaft. An attuned user can purposefully drive the thorns into their palm and allow the flail to drink 1d4 HP per round of use. This causes the rose bud to turn crimson red, bloom and alight in mystical fire. The user may also release the head and turn the mace into a heavy flail with a 5' reach.

The fire causes an additional 1d6 fire damage per strike. On a critical strike, the rosebud embeds itself in the target with tiny thorn tipped vines wrapping around the victim and drinking deeply of the victim’s blood for an additional 3d6 points of damage.
