Ring of the Quill

Of the greater archivists, wizards and researchers at Quillkeep, those that set forth to explore the vast lands of the world are sometimes issued these rings. Appearing to be a quill feather bent to form and ring in either silver or gold, these rings are exceptionally useful in fulfilling the goals of the keep.

Transcription

With a successful concentration check of DC 15 (DC 25 if on another plane), the wearer can unfurl the ring to form a metal quill. Anything written by the quill is copied identically to a matching quill in the vaults of Quillkeep. Copying notes, maps, magical spells, histories, etc., creates a duplicate in Quillkeep. During the concentration check, a small bell notifies attendants of the incoming information in case it is important traffic or that they need to change the sheets. A special code has been devised to communicate to these attendants when to change the page, what type of material is necessary, etc., and is taught to all who are given the ring.

Special wards are in place to nullify harmful content transcribed such as glyphs or exploding runes.

Locator

The ring also acts as a focus for the a scrying spell cast by those at Quillkeep reducing the DC by 3 for those within the keep.
