Rel-Draxa

Merchant Hold. Pirate Haven. Free City. By these titles and more, is Rel-Draxa known. Coveted by merchants, mariners, cutt-throats and pirates as a safe haven, the city of Rel-Draxa is the largest city-state in central Estria. Jutting out from the shore on a small peninsula like an ugly black mark, the city’s high walls are stained with the soot from a thousand chimneys. And for all their imposing stature, the walls do little to obscure the densely packed buildings that sprawl haphazardly around the Sea of Drakes.

Created from a pirate group that was the dread of the interior sea, as it accumulated wealth, it began become a permanent fixture with small port, farms and tradesman. Over four centuries later, it is now a major trade hub for all good crossing to the north or south, or traveling east and west. Should anyone attempt to bypass the long arms of the cities 'assessors', they are met with the Navy of the city, the Drakes.

While the Drakes does indeed have gallions and caravels, the mainstay of the fleet are the quick crayers, corvettes and brigantines. These ships guarantee the absolute dominion of the waterways withing striking distance of Rel-Draxa.
