Mounteback's Transfer

Count Monteback was a scoundrel, thief, charlatan and womanizer. He was a scourge to Alderac's dens of gambling, halls of repute and marriages of its nobles. Few understood how he was able to achieve such notoriety. One such trick that he used was to provide a beautiful rug of wool and silk to a particular home. Once the item was inside the home, he was able to use it as a beacon of sorts and teleport himself from an identical rug he had in his own home, helping himself to jewelry, information and the bedrooms of many.

Shortcut Teleportation

The magic of these rugs enable them to Teleport to the matching piece by using a little known shortcut through the Nine Hells. This shortcut was shown to Monteback by an unnamed devil who delighted in the knowledge that eventually they would meet unpleasantly. Each time the item is used to teleport, the person has a 1% of failure (non-cumulative). The range is unlimited while on the same plane of existence.
