Debt Reconciliation

Through this ritual, the caster seeks to mend the debt they owe to the fabric of magic, balancing the weight of their past transgressions with the healing power of the world around them. The caster performs an intense, focused ritual, channeling the ambient magic in the environment to cleanse a portion of their magical debt.

Effect

The caster must remain in one place for the full duration of the casting. During this time, they cannot cast any other spells or engage in combat.
At the end of the casting, the caster releases a pulse of radiant energy that radiates out in a 30-foot radius, extending from the caster. All magical debt (as determined by the Dungeon Master) within this radius is reduced by 25% (or another percentage as appropriate to the DM’s campaign) and the caster receives a small fragment of clarity, relieving them of the burden of that debt.
If the caster is currently suffering from a curse or magical affliction related to their debt (such as a penalty to spellcasting or physical abilities due to debt accumulation), those effects are removed, but the caster still suffers mild exhaustion for 1d4 days.
If the caster has no magical debt, the ritual instead heals 5d10 hit points and removes one level of exhaustion.
The spell does not affect physical debts, only those tied to magic, curses, or bonds with supernatural forces.
At Higher Levels: When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 6th level or higher, the amount of debt removed increases by 5% for each slot level above 5th.

Side/Secondary Effects

Note: The spell is most effective when performed in a sacred location or a place where magic is strongly attuned to the caster's particular goals or lineage.
