Master Advisor (Bwa'orndi Ran'azi)

Requirements

They must already be an elected Advisor with 5 or more years of experience.

Appointment

The Council of Nobles elects the Master Advisor from the group of experienced Advisors present on the Council. The ceremony is a simple binding process only involving the Reigning Majesty (currently a king), the future Master Advisor, and a Priest. During this binding ritual, the Advisor is sworn to protect the queen or king from outside attacks and to never purposefully cause them harm.

Duties

The Master Advisor meets with hopeful advisors and amasses a list of the best and brightest for the Council to review during their election cycles. When an Advisor is elected, it is the MA's duty to oversee their work and direct them as necessary.   It is also their duty to present the wishes of the Council to the queen or king if their royal person was not present at a meeting.

Responsibilities

The Master Advisor acts as a secondary guard to the queen or king when the royal personage is outside of the palace. They taste the food of the Majesty to ensure that it is not poisoned. They arrange meetings between the Majesty and the Council, or the Majesty and any General, or Noble that requests an audience.

Benefits

They receive a high status in society, being at the same level as the Nobles within the Council, and have private chambers within the Majesty's palace. While they technically have the same amount of power as a Councilmember, they tend to hold more sway with the Majesty since they spend more time together. A Master Advisor will seem to have more power among most of the political and noble parties within the palace.

Accoutrements & Equipment

The Master Advisor is granted a special signet ring with a crest similar to that of the Majesty's family. This same crest is tattooed on the upper arm of the MA's dominant hand with a single line below it. Every ten years they complete as the MA they receive another line.

Grounds for Removal/Dismissal

The Master Advisor is allowed a lot of leeways, however, there are certain actions that are considered unforgivable while in this office. The Worst Offenses:
  • they kill their Majesty, any member of the Majesty's family, or any member of the Council.
  • they allow their Majesty to be killed by poisoned food or an attack in which they didn't give their life first.
  • they publicly denounce Sarchi'na as a false god.
If the MA commits any of the above crimes, the Council will hold a public trial to decide if the MA was justified (possibly killing a Council member in self-defense), or not. If the Council rules the crime to be unjust, the MA's tattoo is branded over with the Murderer's brand, and they are stripped of their rank and privilege.   Other Offenses:
  • they kill (or are linked to the death of) someone not listed above.
  • they knowingly provide false information to the Majesty, the Council, or the other Advisors.
  • they lied about their training or background.
  • they are caught bribing or accepting the bribe of any person.
If the MA commits any of the above crimes, the Council holds a public trial to gather evidence. If the Council rules against the MA for treason, the MA's tattoo is branded over with the brand of treason, and they are stripped of rank and privilege. If the Council rules against them for a lesser count, the MA's tattoo receives a cross mark, and they are stripped of rank, but not necessarily privilege. If the Council does not rule against them due to the presented evidence, they may appoint someone to be a watcher to the MA, but the MA will face no other actions.
