The Skyscourge War

A tragic, all-out war that wrought unrivaled destruction across Azovar. The Skyscourge War was a period of tumultuous unrest, with dragons of all species fighting elven kind in a senseless conflict. It was a bloody stain on Azovar's history that inflicted irreparable casualties to both sides and the innocent caught in wanton destruction. After 10 gruelling years, the "war of the skyborn" culminated into a penultimate battle above the now-broken continent of Varian.

An End, and a Beginning...

The peoples of Azovar were in a period of unrest following the Great Incursion when the black greatwyrm Chronepsis threatened the peoples of Azovar. Many perceived dragonkind, especially those with the Sight, as a threat to Azovar. Elves, and their winged cousins, avarial, were most afflicted, harboring the worst of thoughts towards dragons. A cold war ensued for years. In 991 AC, the silence was finally broken with the murder of the avarial prince during a peace talk with the Council of Wyrms.

Reluctant Allies

Outside of the 15 members of the Council of Wyrms, dragonkind itself would have to be sufficiently threatened for partnerships to form between the reds and silvers or even the blues and bronze. After 3 years, it was. Dragons across Azovar could no longer survive in solidarity, relentless elven onslaughts bringing unrest to them in waves upon waves. Even those who remained pacficist, isolating themselves from the theater of war, were no longer safe. Worried of their dwindling numbers, the Council acted in dragonkind's best interest and reluctantly embraced those fleeing from the elves. The Council and unaligned dragons soon turned the tides of war on their enemies.

...and the Beginning of the End

It is written that the 10-year war ceased when an enormous Planescar tore through the continent of Varian, and the Elemental Chaos began to seep into Azovar. Thus, the end of one war lead to another, and once enemies joined together to combat a common foe.
