The Dread Knight

Geoffrey Tavinter (a.k.a. vi Dare Armada)

A hollow, darkness-infested warrior entity of unknown origins. Clad in unrecognizable heavy armor and wielding a shadow-touched greatsword, the being emits dread as if it were an envoy of death itself. Those who dare meet its piercing gaze are met with soulless red eyes hidden behind a knight's helmet. Dark tales of this unholy warrior have given it the title "vi Dare Armada," abyssal for "the Dread Knight."

The Dark Visitor

The Departed first encountered the Dread Knight in the ruined town of Ashton. The Raven and the Dread Knight seemed to share a connection of sorts, though the specifics are currently under lock and key. Its current objectives are unknown; so too if it seeks an alliance with the party or their untimely demise... Until its plans are laid bare, the Dread Knight chooses to appear in moments it deems most appropriate. The Raven encountered vi Dare Armada again within Red Maw cave beneath Elgus, with another presence of immense darkness lingering in the shadows.

A Vision of Silence

After coming to terms with recent personal events, the Raven's consciousness was whisked away to another vision of vi Dare Armada. Unlike before, he was standing within the mythological city of Somnus, the Dread Knight offering the oathbreaker a dire choice: to travel down the path of redemption or hurl himself into the vengeful abyss.

Attonement

Matriarch Ecrena revealed to the Departed that the Dread Knight is Loghain's late father, Geoffrey Tavinter, who confided to the leader of the Revenants herself some time ago. Not only did he concede his true identity, but damning knowledge of the Holy Praetoria as well. To this end, the Matriarch acted swiftly on the troubling information, eager to gain any advantage against the nefarious paladin order.

Physical Description

Body Features

vi Dare Armada is a towering entity of armor and rage. Though everything identifying the Dread Knight is hidden behind meticulously crafted darksteel full-plate, it fails to hide his imposing stature. His greatsword and shield act as extensions of the dark paladins dread, both exuding miasmic fog that enshroud his steps.

Facial Features

Two crimson eyes pierce the thick fog from beneath vi Dare Armada's jagged, darksteel helmet. Not a single soul has seen what lies beneath, not that they can get close enough without losing a limb, or their life. As such, the truth of vi Dare Armada lays enshrouded behind a multitude of protective barriers.

Identifying Characteristics

Adorned with black-as-night armor strewn with erratic spikes and protrusions, vi Dare Armada has a tough time blending in, not that he needs to. Dark, miasmic fog enshrouds the unholy entities movements, making his heavy bootsteps as quiet as a seasoned rogue's...should he chose to hide their dreadful reverberations.
