War of Revenge

The War of Revenge was a war that took place from 800 AD - 804 AD. It was declared by the newly crowned Daibon I of Vadaton, who wanted revenge for the murder of his mother and her family. Thexos and Vathos, collectively called 'The White Sea Kingdoms', joined Vadaton. Nubelea had attacked a Kingdom called Daibossos and took it for their own, for unknown reasons.

The Conflict

Prelude

The hatred and rivalry between Nubelea and Vadaton goes back 300 years, when Nubelea began seeing Vadaton as a new threat to their title as most powerful Kingdom after the fall of The Droteron Empire. In 798 AD, Nubelea attacked Daibossos, the most eastern of the White Sea Kingdoms, for seemingly unknown reasons. Scholars and generals thought it might have been to provoke the new Eagle King into war. Daibossos was completely destroyed and the royal family was slaughtered, among them was Arrion's mother. Arrion went to do his King's Road and by the end of it, he had renamed himself "Daibon I" and he was ready for revenge and war.

Deployment

All the Vadatonian troops gathered in Greenmount, the capitol of Vailolum. There they waited on more ships from Vathos and Thexos. They left at the very beginning of spring. After some trouble at sea, they landed in Nubelea.

Battlefield

Battle of The Blue Sea

When the army of the three nations set sail, it didn't take long before Sardes caught them. Sardes was the largest naval power in the Blue Sea after all. Sardes had inherited many of the ways of war of The Droteron Empire. They had something that no other nation in the West had. The Leviathan. A nearly 20 meter long beast of war, brought in by the Empire a thousand years ago. Hundreds of these creatures attacked the fleet. After a mere hour, many ships had been sunk, but at great cost. When a rider of a Leviathan dies, it had no idea what to do, so it leaves. That's how the fleet survived, by the reliability of the Thexos and Vathos sailors and marines. The dead count was around 5.000.

Ambush at the Nubelean Coast

When, after a week at sea, the troops landed, they were attacked by a small force of riders. This battle was a minor one, but the aftermath of it would hamper Vadatonian advance for a while. The dead toll had risen to nearly 7.000.

Battle of the Pointed Mountains

The first major battle of the war. Daibon had landed in the middle of Nubelea, what nobody expected him to do. He went west to deal with an army that was quickly amassing. They already numbered in the 40.000's. Daibon defeated this army with ease after taking out much of it's leadership. He lost a mere 5.000 men and his army killed at least 20.000 men and captured 10.000 more. This first victory turned the table instantaneously. One army was completely shattered and his own now had near equal numbers to the army in the east.

Battle of the Northern Stones

The last and largest battle of the war. Daibon with his army of 63.000 faced An-Her III and his 70.000 strong army. An-Her was not pulling any punches. He had brought many beasts of war and mutated creatures. Daibon did not have any of these things, only his men and trusty Order of Iron. The battle began early in the morning. The sun in the back of the Nubelean force, shining in the eyes of the Vadatonian army. THe fight lasted all day, which was not what An-Her wanted. He wanted to defeat his enemy before the sun turned behind the Northern Stones and shined in théir eyes. Still, Daibon would not break. By the time the sun was on their side, he had killed nearly a hundred officers. An-Her met him on the field. After a long duel, An-Her was slain by Daibon. The Nubelean army routed and the victory went to the invaders. When the day ended, 50.000 Nubeleans and Sardessians lied dead on the field. Daibon had lost 30.000 of his own, holding the line.
After this battle, Daibon layed siege to Herunet. After only three days, the city surrendered and peace was dictated by Daibon, he held the city, had won every battle and killed the Pharao himself. The War was over.

Outcome

Vadaton took a massive amount of war reperations and loot back to Vadaton. The White Sea Kingdoms became richer than ever. Daibon became known as: 'The Couragious'.

Aftermath

In Nubelea, a civil war occured. Pharao An-Her III was killed during a battle by the Vadatonian King. He left no sons, only daughters, twins. Both daughters were married and had sons. The civil war only ended after 3 years but took a toll on Nubelea that never would recover. The glory days of Nubelea would not return for another 50 years. A lot of territory was lost to invaders from the south and the east.
Sardes became a Kingdom that would not engage in another war for 100 years.
Vadaton flourished. It became known as the most powerful kingdom since the Droteron Empire.

Legacy

The Kingdom of Vadaton had never been more powerful. They were respected more than anything. Traders from faraway lands had heard of them winning this war and came to sell their goods. Daibon had made Vadaton into a new superpower, unlike it had ever been before.
