The King's Road

The King's Road is a ritual that must be completed before one can be called Eagle King. It has three steps that need to be completed. The completion of this ritual signifies hardship before rule. A test before the Great Eagle Gods.

History

It has been a tradition for as long as anyone can remember. The Road has not alsways been the same but has become more and more daring and painful. It could be a tradition that has been going on for a thousand years, but no one knows of it's actual revelation. The first step of the Road, is to train a horse. This part of the Road has been introduced by Eagle King Nebion in 781 AD, after he conquered Melolan. He wanted to honor their ways by adding on of their traditions into the King's Road. The training has been there since the beginning. The to-be King would climb Mount Zysal by himself to a convent on top of it. There he will receive training from a swordmaster. He will learn to control his pain and will become the most skilled weaponsmaster in the world. The third step is not known to anyone beyond the Valonan family. Eagle King Lycaron I theorised that the step was introduced by Crixon in 540 AD. He payed a heavy price and was traumatised for the rest of life. Only some know of this step, because they either helped out or were the target of it.

Execution

There are three steps.

One must train a horse. This cannot be just any horse, any horse is not worthy of an Eagle King. This horse must be a leader, as must it's trainer become. Do this by any means neccesary, but it must be a hardship suffered alone.

He, who would be Eagle King, must be able to defeat his enemies and not be afraid to face a thoussand foes by himself. A King must wield his sword, in a way that only The Eagle Gods can defeat. For this, he must travel to the highest point in The Horizon, Mount Zysal. There he shall be trained by those trained by The Gods. He shall complete his training, when he defeats his mentor.

For someone with so much might, he must be able to sacrifice it. An Eagle King must know the most painful of hardships. He must inflict this himself, on himself or those he loves. The Gods shall hear his cries and approve of his pain, so he shall be fit to rule.
