Guild of the Silver Sages - [NG]

"Long ago the most powerful in the arcane arts decided that the use of magic should be for the greater education of all nations and the exploration of the mysteries of the known world. These mages changed their name's to sages and chose a dilapidated outpost in the center of the continent to found their guild. They called this the Great Library of Azuth, named for the arch mage that created the library ages past.
Shortly thereafter the sages formed the Guild of the Silver Sages and through their reputation forced a paradigm shift in the casting world so only members of their guild were considered reputable and honorable to the arcane tradition. Members of the guild come from all walks of life and all places of the known world.
Among the sages one chosen semi-centennially during the year of the comet is given the title of Arch Sage and is usually the oldest and wisest in their guild. The last Arch Sage, Arch Sage Correndus, is reported to have disappeared while exploring The Deep Below; possibly having had his brain consumed by a mind flayer or fallen into an ooze. The order has nearly been without an Arch Sage for fifty years so the time is almost right to choose another.
The hierarchy under the Arch Sage are a group of five High Sages which circulate out to the main nations offering their arcane advice and council."
