The Malediction

A mysterious curse placed on the people of the Imperium Ascoli by the Elves before the crossing of the Foreboding Sea.
The curse afflicted 2/3rds of the Ascolian people. It warped their appearances and had them take on animalistic characteristics. It made them susceptible to commands if you knew their names. "X, I command you to do Y" is all it takes to bend a Vulpan, as those afflicted by the curse came to be called, to your will. A cure has never been found. Not that there are many trying to find one. Despite the gravity of such a curse, many believe it to be a fitting end to those who oppressed the people of Pikas for 1,000 Years. Even though the Vulpans of the modern day had no hand in the Imperial occupation, a fact that is often ignored. The curse is passed on from parent to child. 
The Malediction collapsed the entire Imperium and sent them retreating back across the channel. They did not allow Vulpan to cross with them which left them at the hands of the people they once ruled. Even after all these centuries, Vulpan continue to live on the continent of Pikas as slaves and servants. Their treatment varies depending on location and master.
