The Auld

The Auld or "the old ways" is the native religion of Pikas, and historically the religion of the Elven people (though most have converted to the Communion). It is almost impossible to synthesize the Auld into one systemic way of thought. It is as varied as the flowers of the field or the trees of the forest. Practitioners of the Auld gather in sacred groves hidden in forgotten places across Pikas to worship the local spirits there. 
Followers of the Auld may hold wildly different views on the world, morality, and more. What commonly links those of the Old Way is simple: a profound respect for Nature, and a sacred compulsion to honor their ancestral ways, whatever those may be. 
Historically, Followers of the Auld were persecuted by the Communion following the coronation of King St. Aedmund. However, during the reign of his daughter, Queen Eawynn the Merciful, the Compromise of the Scale and the Tree was signed, and a Sacred Grove was planted outside of the Cathedral of the Lawgiver in Kinsbridge.
