Duchies of Reynes

The strong do as they please, the weak endure what they must

The Duchies of Reynes is a fractured nation ruled by various Dukes, who are the descendants of ancient tribal chiefdoms that overthrew the Imperium Ascoli during Taewyn's Rebellion. The patchwork nation occupies the entire Western half of Pikas, and maintains neutral relations with both Caldforge and the Kingdom of Taewyn. Fortuna, the island nation to the south, is the closet "ally" the great network of duchies has. However, it is difficult to maintain an alliance with "Reynes," given that any alliance with Reynes is really just an alliance with whoever is at the top at the given time. The Dukes and Duchesses of Reynes currently find themselves trying to quell a peasant's revolt, as well as trying to elect a new Archduke from the treacherous ranks of the nobility. 

Culture 

A noble's life in Reynes is awash with luxury and intrigue. Assassination, betrayal, and scheming are common, with each minor noble biting at the ankles of their betters. This system has made the top of the political food chain clever, brutal, and formidable beyond question. Around the aristocracy, however, is a great machine of near (or total) enslavement for humans and Vulpan alike that maintains the noble way of life. The many tens of thousands of peasants inhabiting the slums and fields of Reynes are at a constant risk from war, crime, and their very own rulers.
