Drakonomachy

While written record of this event is scant at best, the memories of this war are embedded in the hearts and minds of the mortal races. The War of Scale and Flesh happened when the world was still young. According to the Communion, following the mysterious death of the semi-divine dragon known as Aydrus, his children, the heads of the various Dragonflights, waged war against the mortal races, whom they believed to be the cause of their father's death. While written record of this event is practically non-existent, the scars the war left behind serve as an ever-present reminder of one of the greatest wars ever seen on the mortal plane. The Scorched Isle remains a testament to the rage of Dragons. However, not all who bled Draconic blood wished to see the mortal races extinct. Aydrus's Dragonborn allied with the mortal races, and their combined might saw the defeat of the Dragonflights and their leader's deaths. With the loss of their leaders, the lesser drakes went insane and became as beasts to this very day.
