Vayon Speaks of The Sentinels

There were many of us.

Many are still alive.

Scattered around the World, watchers keeping a silent watch through an unending night.

We no longer know where all of us are. But that is no great matter. We know what we must do.

Some were lost over the centuries- some as soldiers fallen in battle, some as heroes making the greatest sacrifice of all, some as martyrs.

Some may have simply passed on. Immortality is not for everyone.

Every now and again, I encounter one I was sure had passed beyond the Gates of Death centuries ago, and find they are still alive, still vigilant, still prepared to do all that is required to keep the World safe from the almost unthinkable danger we face.

We were sworn to oaths, oaths to fight against the Faery Queen, her minions, against the fae and the dark forces that align with them. We hold to those oaths, unceasingly. We keep watch, we wait, many times we intervene, and sometimes we have had to fight.

But there was always Fear, a Fear that has plagued us down through the centuries of this striving.
