Tabaxi

Tabaxi, also known as jaguar people are a race of feline humanoids native to the jungles of Elamdu.

Physical Traits

Anatomy

Tabaxi are taller than most humans at six to seven feet. Their bodies are slender and covered in spotted or striped fur. Like most felines, Tabaxi have long tails and retractable claws. Tabaxi fur color ranges from light yellow to brownish red. Tabaxi eyes are slit-pupilled and usually green or yellow. Tabaxi are competent swimmers and climbers as well as speedy runners. They have a good sense of balance and an acute sense of smell.

Biology and Aging

Tabaxi give birth to litters of 2-3 childern. Infants start out small, but grow quickly and gain indepandance much faster than human infants. Tabaxi reach early adulthood at 12 years and can live for up to 80 years.

Habitat

Tabaxi prefer humid jungle climates, but are able to addapt to most terains. The only climate they cannot stand is cold winter climates. Tabaxi are free people that like to travel and trade, so they prefer the open road to settling down. Wyldefolk Tabaxi tend to be nomadic tribes.

Diet

Tabaxi are carnivorous, and will eat almost anything that is smaller than them. Most supplement their diets with grains, but they do not like vegetables.

Sapient Traits

History

Tabaxi immigrated to Dunia during the Age of the Silver Kingdoms. The first Tabaxi arived in the southern jungles of Elamdu and built many of the ancient jungle chiefdoms together with the lizardfolk. The strong sense of wanderlust prevented many of the tribes from settling down permanently and even to this day many Tabaxi prefer a nomadic lifestyle. Tabaxi were and still are charismatic traders who spend their lives on the open roads. Due to their innate wanderlust the gods did not bless the tabaxi with an ancestral language but instead gave them the ablility to more easily understand the languages of others.

Manerisms

Tabaxi are a reclusive people who often avoided interaction with other peoples in the Wylderness, but are quite social when they live in an urban setting. As each tabaxi possessed a specific feline trait, many have an innate curiosity that compelled them to travel and seek out stories, artifacts, new experiences and knowledge, never remaining in the same place or obsessing over the same piece of lore for too long.

Tabaxi are charismatic explorers. They have the following traits:

Naming Conventions

Dependent on culture. Tabaxi tend to name themselves after concepts transalted in the local language such as: Wavering Wind, Mindful, Joyous Laughter.

Beauty/Gender Ideals

Tabaxi have gender signifiers that are clear to them, but often harder to percieve for other peoples. Both male and female tabaxi take great care grooming themselves and keep their fur immaculate.

Relationship Ideals

Tabaxi are fast and loose with relationships. Since they are always on the move they have friendships that burn fast and bright. Most tabaxi are polyamorous.

Cat's Claws
Your unarmed strikes deal 1d6 slashing damage on a hit, and have the Finese and Light properties.
Feline Agility
Your reflexes and agility allow you to move with a burst of speed. When you move on your tum in combat, you can double your speed until the end of the tum. Once you use this trait, you can't use it again until you move 0 feet on one of your turns.
Feline Talent
You have proficiency in the Perception and Stealth skills.
Feline Tenacity
When you drop to 0 HP but are not killed outright, you drop to 1 HP instead. Once used you must finish a long rest before you can use this feature again.
