Lizardfolk

Lizardfolk, also known as lizard men, are a people of reptilian humanoids

Physical Traits

Anatomy

Lizardfolk skin is covered in scales and varied in color from dark green through to shades of brown and gray. Taller than humans and powerfully built, lizardfolk were often between 1.8–2.1 m tall and weighed between 90–110 kg. Lizardfolk have prehensile muscular tails that grow to three or four feet in length, used for balance. They also have sharp claws and teeth.

Genetics and Reproduction

Lizardfolk lay eggs in cluches. They develop quickly after hatching reaching early addulthood after 5 years and can live for up to 80 years.

Habitat

Lizardfolk come in multiple variaties. Semi-aquatic lizardfolk prefer humid, tropical environments, or swamps and are adverse to dry climates. Terestrial Lizardfolk prefer deserts or arid landscapes and are adverse to wet climates.

Diet

Lizardfolk are carnivorous, and eat mostly insects and meat. Most lizardfolk are able to consume dead carrion.

Sapient Traits

History

Lizardfolk immigrated onto the World during the Age of the Silver Kingdoms. The first Lizardfolk were exiles from an advanced civilization and brought with them many technological and magical wonders. Most of these have been lost over the ages to the march of time. In current times, lizarfolk live either nomadic jungle or desert tribes, or in the sandstone cities of the Alhulwaa Desert. Because of their specific habitat requirements, seeing lizardfolk outside of these places is quite rare.

Manerisms

Lizardfolk have little interest in money or jewels. They also do not much value accumulating knowledge if it was not practically useful. They largely value things based on whether or not it aids in their survivial. If it does, it quickly got their attention; if not, it is ignored. Lizardfolk are practical to the extreme, and spend almost no time on aestecics or art. They are trained from birth to survive in the harshest environments on Dunia, and have mastered the art of survival.

Values and Traits

Lizardfolk are extreme survivalists. They have the following traits:

  • Ascetic
  • No mercy for the weak

Naming Conventions

Dependent on culture. Primordial spoken by lizardfolk has short individual syllables spoken with hisses.

Beauty/Gender Ideals

Although non-reptilians struggled to tell the difference between males and females, lizardfolk could easily distinguish themselves. Lizardfolk take great care of their scales, which shows off their health and strength.

Relationship Ideals

Lizardfolk are fiercly loyal to tribe and clan. Individual or family relationships are far less important than for other peoples.

You gain proficiency in the Survival skill.
Natural Armor
You have tough, scaly skin. When you aren't wearing armor, your AC is 13 + your Dexterity modifier. You can use your natural armor to determine your AC if the armor you wear would leave you with a lower AC. A shield's benefits apply as normal while you use your natural armor.
Bite
You have a fanged maw that you can use to make unarmed strikes. When you hit with it, the strike deals 1d6 + your Strength modifier slashing damage, instead of the bludgeoning damage normal for an unarmed strike.
Hungry Jaws
You can throw yourself into a feeding frenzy. As a bonus action, you can make a special attack with your Bite. If the attack hits, it deals its normal damage, and you gain temporary hit points equal to your proficiency bonus. You can use this trait a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus, and you regain all expended uses when you finish a long rest.
Prehensile Tail
You have advantage on Dexterity(Acrobatics) checks by using your tail for ballance.
You can spend a bonus action to use your tail to accomplish the following basic tasks (The DM may allow other simple tasks that are not listed):
  • Lift, Drop, Hold, Push, or pull an object/creature
  • Open/Close a door or container
  • Make an unarmed strike, or attack with a dagger. Damage for unarmed strikes increases to 1d4 + STR bludgeoning damage.
Your tail has a reach of 5 feet, and can lift a number of pounds equal to 10 x Your Strength Score. It cannot wield weapons (except for daggers), shields or do anything else that requires manual precision, like activating magical items or performing somatic components of spells.
