Crimson Iron

Decades after the Sundering, a group of dwarves miners struck a vein of iron ore that had distinct deep crimson color to it. When processed, the metal had all the properties of standard iron, but maintained that strange coloration. When it was combined with other elements to create composite metals, the color would deepen instead of lightening like expected. It was a small vein of ore and not much was made from it. Several other veins have been found since, but never a lot could be made of them. Every vein that has been found has bee dangerously close to a magma flow, and thus not many have gone searching for it.  Over time it was discovered that the Crimson Iron did not rust like other iron, and had a naturally aptitude to hold magical effects. The rare material became quite coveted by wizards and swordsman. After more veins were discovered, an arcane study was done upon the material. They could not come to a definitive answer as to why the iron had changed this way. Finally, a dwarves cleric was able to access the metal. He communed with the dwarven God of metals and received an answer. It was iron tainted by the blood of Fiel and Athed Vidarr spilt in Fiel's rage during the Sundering. Do to this, most holy men &women refuse to use the material for most purposes. It has now become taboo to craft it into weapons or armor, but many temples use it to create holy relics or altars to Fiel or Athed Vidarr. Many weapons and even some armor had been crafted, and even enchanted, before the source was uncovered. The most famous weapon is the blade know as the "Blood Fang". This weapon, crafted by a dwarf and enchanted by an evil gnomish wizard is rumored to still be in the hands of a powerful lich. It is said that it has an edge that cannot be dulled and a curse that draws extra blood from its target, feeding it to it's wilder along with a hunger for more blood.
