Sorcery Sickness
Sorcery sickness is the result of a witch using, or trying to use, more magic than they can safely handle (like a beginner weightlifter trying to bench press 400 kilograms on their first try).
Causes
Caused by overuse of magic, and by using more magic than the witch is capable of handling.
Symptoms
Sorcery sickness presents in varying levels of seriousness with varying symptoms - each increasing level can also exhibit the symptoms of less serious levels:
- headaches, temporary weakening of powers
- vomiting, physical exhaustion, shock, migraines
- bleeding from the eyes/ears/nose
- temporary loss of powers
- permanent and irreversible loss of powers
- coma
- insanity
- death
Treatment
There is no treatment for sorcery sickness, only resting and healing the physical symptoms of the illness to ensure health of the body, and limiting the amount of magic that the witch uses until she is fully healed.
Prevention
The only prevention is for a witch to not overextend herself when working magic.
