As a seer, Johanna Callahan possessed all manner of foreseeing abilities, including psychometry, clairvoyance, and precognition. To distinguish this new line from their witch cousins, Johanna gave her daughter the surname O'Johainn (meaning daughter of Johanna), which eventually became anglicised to O'John.
