When you deal with magic and magic users long enough, you start to notice certain aspects about how both work. Both like to operate by certain rules, both are reluctant to reveal the nature of said rules, and, most importantly, both really don't like being forced to go against those rules. If you want to get one or the other to do what you want, you've got to know exactly what you're doing. And that's where people like Victor Johansen come in.

Like a lot of people, Victor didn't set out to do what he does. When he first joined the law firms of Paddock and Grimalkin, he thought it would simply be a matter of navigating negotiations, contracts, mergers, and other aspects of corporate law. To his credit, this was the case for many years, until the day he took a case for a security company owned by Sigmund Kriemhild. To this day, he refuses to discuss the details, but from what's been gathered when he's had enough to drink, it involved out-negotiating a group of Iron Court fae and exorcizing a literal ghost in a machine, and it ended up impressing the not-easily-impressed Sigmund so much that he became a regular client of Victor's, coming to him for aid with both professional and personal finances.

Soon enough, word of mouth proved both a boon and a bane, and Victor found himself working primarily cases of a supernatural nature. He can't exactly say he's happy about this, as while he's gotten rather good at it, his cases can be overly complicated and his clientele tends to look down on him for reasons ranging from his lack of magical abilities to his sketchy and unsettling nature. But with Sigmund Kriemhild's passing and his surprising decision to leave all of his assets to his hitherto unknown great-grandniece, things look like they'll be taking an interesting turn for Victor, and if nothing else, at least he'll have someone to commiserate with over all the magic bullshit in their lives.
