Tarmsworth
Tarmsworth is a city on the eastern banks of the Godestone Reservoir, a massive lake in western Faryon. A bustling mercantile hub, the streets of Tarmsworth are said to never be truly quiet. Around thirty years ago, the city was the site of a disastrous magical experiment gone wrong, resulting in demons roaming the streets for a fortnight - a massive, oozing crater lays not too far away from the city gates, a permanent reminder of the damage wrought all those years ago.
One of that event's heroes, Douglas Velvin has, with his adventuring days coming to an end, been running a somewhat famous store for the past few years known as Douglas' Delves, reportedly selling powerful magical items.
For the past two decades, Tarmsworth and its surrounding lands have been governed by Thargrum Holderhek, who reigns as its count. He is known as a somewhat distant ruler who does not bother too much with his people, earning him the ire of some, and praise of others.
Demographics
Around 70% of the city is made up of humans, with Dwarves and Elves making up around 7% each, respectively. The remainder of the city's population is made up of a wild variety of different races, from Halflings to Dragonborn.
Government
The count is the de facto ruler of Tarmsworth and the surrounding county and runs the city's day-to-day affairs. A court of judges oversees the sentencing of criminals, while the city watch are responsible for keeping the peace as well as the annual tax collecting.
Natural Resources
The Godestone Reservoir provides the city's fishermen with plenty of freshwater fish to catch, and the fields in the lands provide fertile ground for farmers, who grow both fresh crops and breed farmland animals for produce such as meat, leather, and wool - the lands are also home to several renowned horsebreeders.
The woods a little to the south provide lumber for the city, and stone is mined from quarries in the region, making the city largely self-sufficient.
