Lost souls of the Vale that, through mechanisms unknown, were (un)lucky enough not to perish to the miasma and dangers of the accursed forest. Their body is one with the Vale, and their mind has been torn asunder, never to be who they were before again.
This kind of affliction is an option for player characters. Please keep in mind there are certain rules and traits to playing mutated characters:
✦ The Valetouched process takes a month or more of unbroken, concentrated exposure to the Vale's cursed miasma, and of those who suffer such things, a miniscule number become Valetouched instead of just perishing.
✦ You are no longer at risk of suffering most of the effects of the miasma, but the changes to your body and mind are irreversible, and you don't immedietly garner rapport with the Valeguard or the animals/other dangers of the forest.
