The Water Gate

In the deepest part of a hallow and dry trench lied a structure commonly visualized in scriptures as some sort of spiral shaped mineral that looked much like the shell of a nautilus. Such an intricately designed carapace and it's naturally occurring beauty was all but unappreciated in the void of a primordial realm without water, plants, or life. From the deepest chasms of our world, a cry could be heard by no one but the spirits ancient enough to have traversed there. Our realm trembled and shook so hard you could hear its core rattling against its confines, and with a surge of something inexplicably transcendent, the realms first taste of water erupted from the nautilus shell, travelling forth to fill each and every part of the dry beds of earth it could, and the "shell", as a vessel for this water, continues to bridge the fathomless oceans of the water realm to our own even today, or so the legend goes. The water gate is accredited with introducing water into the material realm. salt and other minerals saturated the earth and would salt the seas, and scholars believe circulations of precipitation would lead, over the course of thousands of years, to lakes, rivers, and inland seas forming in other parts of the world. Whilst the fact the water gate is believed to be submerged in a deep, unidentified part of the ocean's seafloor, research from both terrestrial universities as well as merfolk expeditions have come to unanimous agreements that the gate is most likely somewhere within the 9 kilometers deep fathoms of the northern part of the Frail Ocean.
