The Seven Lord Sins

The seven first demonic beings ever made and founders of Detoya. Scorned by humanity, they fled and made a home for themselves in Yorn where they now act as a council of leaders and protectors for their blood related kin, the demon-blooded Defleo.
The Seven Lord Sins are enigmatic and misunderstood beings, resulting from humanity's hubris in attempting to sever the darker aspects of human nature through magic. Once known as the Seven Pillars, they were created in an ancient ritual meant to purge sin from the mortal soul, the Seven Pillars embody seven mortal sins: pride, envy, wrath, sloth, greed, gluttony, and lust. However, contrary to the fears and myths surrounding them, the Pillars are wise and capable of compassion and the full suite of free will and thought. After escaping the bonds and torment of their creators, they would garner followers and sympathizers, humans that they would be turned to as leaders. The Seven would strive to guide others toward balance and self-acceptance. The magic ritual that birthed the Seven Pillars was deeply flawed. Instead of erasing sin, it gave physical form to these aspects, imbuing them with sentience and a connection to the humanity that rejected them. Each Pillar possesses traits tied to their respective sin but interprets them in complex ways highlighting the potential for growth, healing, and understanding. The city of Detoya, nestled deep within the swamps of Yorn, is a testament to the ingenuity and perseverance of the Seven Pillars. A city created and led by the Seven, it is hidden by natural barriers and protected by magical wards. The city is a haven for all of their half-blooded kin the defleo, who have been cast out or misunderstood.

The Lord Sins are haunted by humanity’s fear and hatred; their thoughts on their previous tormentors range from wishing reparations to wishing retribution to refusing to succumb to bitterness and focusing on remaining hidden. Each Lord Sin has their own feelings on the matter, and dysfunction and arguments sometimes emerge between them. They hope they can one day bridge the divide between humans and demons, teaching the world that sin and virtue are not opposites but parts of the same whole. In the meantime, they defend Detoya from incursions, offering refuge to those who seek it while shielding their people from the prejudice of the outside world.

All 7 siblings share dominion over Detoya, each having their own throne and responsibilities. Gluttony is oftentimes seen as the main ruler, relied upon for aiding in decision-making and for wise and considerate moderation.

Gluttony

Beelzebub. Gluttony is considered the “Head” of all the siblings, being the glue that keeps them from fighting and acting as their main voice of reason, and because of that other races usually seek him specifically to discuss political matters. Although he is a pacifist at heart, he never forgets humanity's betrayal and wishes to unite defleo and other races by peace or war.
He is a tall, gaunt man with sunken, sickly eyes that hold a glimmer of false hope and pale, thin skin. His small, thorny horns resemble rose vines. A gaping hole in his stomach prevents him from keeping any food he eats, causing it to fall through no matter how hard he tries to satisfy his hunger. Despite his own suffering, he is nurturing, fatherly, and selfless, ensuring his people are well-fed, even though he can never be. Often described as the kindest of his siblings, he is deeply committed to sparing others the pain he has endured.

Lust

Asmodeus. Although generally seen as irresponsible among their peers, Lust holds many talents and acts as a gatherer of intelligence about the other regions and races as they frequently engross themself within other places, traveling around swiftly and using all manner of methods to and a mask of charisma to end up with information of all sorts they can bring back to their siblings. Some of their tales are almost always gossip of some kind and stories of their adventures, but they have a keen eye for finding information of great value, whether hidden behind lock and key or the depths of the mortal mind.
Lust is a captivating, genderfluid figure often mistaken for a living muse. They revel in transforming their appearance through magic and mundane means, favoring intricate braids and silky, revealing clothing that highlights their confidence. A signature feature is the hole in their chest, shared by their siblings, adorned with gems and flowers. Lust’s sweeping horns curve gracefully backward, enhancing their allure. Though seen as the epitome of seduction, Lust’s true passion lies in embracing life’s adventures, both joyous and sorrowful. Beneath their charm, they struggle with an unshakable emptiness and a numbness that dulls extreme emotions. Leaving their throne in the care of a trusted deputy, Lust roams in search of not fleeting pleasures, but a profound connection to the vibrancy of existence.

Sloth

Belphegor. It’s rumored that she may be the most intelligent among the siblings and a heavy influence on Gluttony’s decisions, acting as his unofficial advisor. An urban legend says that Sloth is able to enter dreams and nightmares, influencing your actions while you’re asleep.
Sloth is a plump, curvy woman with ram-like horns that appear slightly overgrown and eyes eternally sewn shut, hidden beneath a silk eye mask. Her soft, cloud-like hair flows to the ground as if she never needed to cut it. She typically wears loose, flowing dresses and tunics, rumored to have been gifted by her sister, Wrath. Sloth depends on her sibling, Gluttony, for care, as she spends most of her waking life in stillness. Ironically, she becomes most active during her dreams, ruling telepathically from her chambers at night. She refers to her waking body as a "prison," finding freedom and vitality only in her slumber.

Greed

Mammon. It’s not confirmed but Greed seems to be the one in the economic control of the kingdom and works alongside Lust and Wrath in the matters of war and defense.
Greed is a slender, awkward figure with small horns and no eyes. He uses two large holes in his palms to "see," inserting yellow humanoid eyes stored in a small golden pouch. He smugly claims to have four eyes, with two hidden away. Though all the siblings were born simultaneously, Greed is seen as the youngest due to his mischievous, childish demeanor and knack for getting into trouble. However, this playful persona may be a facade. Beneath it lies a ruthless and manipulative nature, capable of sweet-talking his way into others' fortunes and leaving ruin in his wake. Urban legends speak of a secret vault hidden in the castle's dungeons—Greed's private library, filled with unimaginable treasures and knowledge accessible only to his siblings.

Pride

Lucifer. Her eye for detail is legendary and also applies to evaluating enemies' insecurities and defenses. She is not afraid to dig her nails into where it hurts, whether it be her opponent's personal lives and matters or the weak spots in construction; if it’s for her kingdom’s best interest, she is quite ruthless.
A petite, striking beauty with jet-black hair, dark red skin, golden eyes, and a sculpted face, she’s the subject of playful teasing among the other Lords. She hides the holes in her heel with stylish high-heeled boots and has imposing, well-maintained wings that, despite their grandeur, cannot support flight. Though she has a god complex and a fiery temper, her true priority is the prosperity and respect of her kingdom. Her meticulous attention to detail and commitment to perfection make her the kingdom’s official architecture lead, crafting plans and buildings with unmatched precision.

Wrath

Satan. The lengths of her dedication to her own ideals cannot be understated. She respects the passionate and those with the will to stand for said passions, especially the lives of the guards and soldiers who guard Detoya. Through terrible terrain and live warfare, she has been seen carrying several injured soldiers on her shoulders and back at the same time, no matter how difficult or how long it takes in order to get them to medical help and off the frontlines.
Wrath is an imposing figure, her tall, muscular frame and large, battle-scarred horns often leading others to mistake her for a minotaur or ogre. Her shaggy white hair starkly contrasts her ink-black skin, which is always clad in heavy armor, a thick helm essentially always concealing her head, her hair pouring out the back. Her face remains a mystery to all but her closest family and trusted allies, though her fiery red eyes, visible through her helmet, are enough to unnerve even the bravest souls. As the commander of Detoya's military, Wrath is known for her competence, caution, and unwavering loyalty to her troops, refusing to risk lives unnecessarily or leave anyone behind. She plays a crucial role in the battle against the Northern Hivemind, leading her forces alongside Detoya's freed and independent Insectoid kin allies with unmatched determination and skill.

Envy

Leviathan. Envy is an enigmatic soul. Even to their own people, many find it odd how little Envy actually shares about themself openly or outside very modest and plain terms. Nothing much is known, if anything at all, about their true tastes, likes, or interests. However, their siblings keep secretive tabs on their frequent disappearances from the capital and have found they are mostly spotted in orphanages, hospitals, or retirement homes looking after those who can’t look after themselves in silence; the people receiving their aid rarely even realize where it is coming from.
Envy is a reserved figure, always concealed in layers of clothing and a blank white mask with black eyes. Even their horns are draped with fabric. Rarely seen in public, they typically appear alongside one of their siblings, most often Greed. Envy dedicates its time to preserving the history of its people, meticulously archiving Defleo documents and records. They preside as the librarian of Detoya's city library, silent but always willing to help visiting denizens find just what they need within the shelves and cases of the archive.
