The Magma Guardian

The Magma Gate has no true guardian. But what it does have is one of the most volatile domains in the entire realm. No living being has been able to make it within even a kilometer of the gate's location. The gate is said to be held within the churning heart of the Earth Star's underground lava basins, inaccessible as the molten rock decimates any matter that tries to breach it and no manner of effort can stave off the lava. Some like to point out too however that there is one entity that makes travel towards the gate more difficult: The Magma Serpent Vuldana. A massive being, she is also known as the "Serpent Who Holds Sea of Fire," a poetic moniker stemming from folklore tales that her form is so large and long in measure that from nose to tail-tip, she spans the length of a mountain range. Whether true or an exaggeration, her periodic strides through the earth and magma are the most common cause of seismic activity in the area, and her feeding ground is the proximity of the Earth Star, meaning trespassers who wander near may very well find an aggravated Vuldana introducing them to her fiery furnace of a maw if caught. Her presence has given her an unnofficial title as a "guardian" though she is neither privy of nor protective of the gate, simply territorial and.... Always hungry.
Though called a Guardian, the beast cares not for duty or the Gate at all. It purely hates finding others within it's territory and has no qualms removing intruders itself.
