The Lightning Resistance Remnants
The remnants of the once-unified full-scale Lightning Resistance of Lindin. Once defying King Shamos, now flung to the shadows to survive.
What once was the Lightning Resistance now exists as scattered, fractured groups clinging to survival in the shadows. Broken by distrust, failed operations, and relentless persecution, these fragments operate independently, with little to no communication. Each group has evolved to suit its own environment, resources, and goals, but all share a lingering defiance against Linnel's rule.
Most surviving cells are small, consisting of a handful of loyalists who evaded capture or death during Stormbreaker. They avoid large-scale operations, focusing on sabotage, espionage, and smuggling. These cells often work as mercenaries or thieves to fund their resistance, their ideals fading into necessity. The ideological rift between radicals and rebels remains, even among these fragmented survivors. Some cells hold onto the radicals’ violent approach, striking at Linnel’s forces whenever possible, no matter the cost. Others cling to the rebels’ ideals, prioritizing covert sabotage and avoiding harm to civilians. These divisions often prevent cooperation, leaving them vulnerable and isolated.
For most of Linnel’s citizens, the Lightning Resistance is little more than a faded memory or a cautionary tale. However, among the oppressed and disenfranchised, whispers of their survival persist. These stories fuel hope, inspiring some to seek out the resistance or form their own movements. The remnants themselves, though battered and disillusioned, carry the flicker of their original purpose: to defy Linnel’s tyranny and reclaim their freedom.
