The Fire Guardian
Unlike any other of the regions, the fire gate lacks a "guardian," in the traditional sense known to most people. The location of the gate is a secret, one due in large part to the utter hostility of the lands of Azmith in which it dwells. But the gate in truth does have something that oversees it. It, in fact, has an entire group dedicated to it. A special and elite sector of Azmith's secretive Rogue Sands Assassin's Guild, known internally as the Ashen Veil, dedicate their careers and well-being to protecting the Fire Gate. The Ashen Veil is a secretive organization within an already secretive organization, operating in the shadows of Azmith and the Rogue Sands. Its structure is a rigid hierarchy unlike the fluid nature of the rest of the Assassin's Guild, with each member bound by the guild’s unbreakable code plus their own special edicts.
At the top stands the Keeper of the Ashen Flame, the enigmatic and nearly mythical leader of the guild. The Keeper’s identity is a closely guarded secret, with only a select few knowing their true nature. Some say the Keeper is an ancient figure who has lived for centuries, while others believe they are a being of pure fire, possibly a spirit of great power. With a level of fervor akin to a religious sect, these assassins are all talented fire mages who train in special techniques that utilize burning hot smoke in order to hide their presence, confound foes, and char enemies.
The members of the Ashen Veil are split into one of two functions: The Flamesworn, who are the active and lethal guardians and assassins who carry out direct protection of the Gate. Meanwhile, the Cinderhands support the Veil via the investigation of contracts and surveillance of Azmith on behalf of their kin, ensuring they remain both secretive and one step ahead of potential adversaries.

5. Fire Never Fades: Loyalty to the Keeper and the guild is paramount. Betrayal or failure to uphold the guild’s purpose is punishable by death, often by the flames themselves.
