The Earth Guardian

Unlike some of the other gatekeepers in other regions, Eriden has been spotted and even interacted with several times, unshy of being seen. They stand tall, shaking the ground with each step, watching over the forest and its precious gate with all seeing eyes. Eriden is a nature spirit, a true guardian of the earth gate, with various lesser spirits below them. Most refer to Eriden in a draconic form, one taken in the past the last time mortals have seen them in person, at least since the healing of the forests of Eren after The Great Burning.  They have known to have taken on several powerful forms however, bending their appearance to their whim. Its more specific exterior details shift entirely based on Eren's overall health, appearing more full of leaves and luscious greens when the land is in good health, and appearing withered and pale, almost skeletal-like when Eren is suffering. Sometimes when approached, Eriden would stay almost completely still, unmoving like a tree of the forest save for their glowing eyes looking down upon you. Eriden has held a reputation as coming of as stoic and always composed. Even when faceing the dragons and their army in antiquity they were claimed to simply lounge atop their stone podium in wait for the invaders. When spoken to, those who attempt conversation are often met with silence unless they wish to impart their words, an honor they do not always bestow upon visitors. There are very few outside of Eldra who have ever heard the enraged voice of the gatekeeper, though those who have been gifted with their more neutral voice have reported it to sound slow, low, and raspy, or that of an old, immeasurably wise woman.

The Guardian was once a silent and gentle presence. It could stride effortlessly through nature without crushing a single life under foot. Yet she alone enacted the harshest and most potent punishment upon the dragons, a testament of what her domain became after it regrew.
