The Drekayan Court of Dragons
The Drekayan Royal Court is the seat of power for the dragonkin rulers of Eren, a noble bloodline that has governed the land since its very founding. The family, known collectively as Sulon, claims a divine right to rule, tracing their lineage back to Eldra the Black, the legendary First Queen of the Dragons. Eldra, a figure of myth and reverence, is said to have united the dragonkin and founded the first true draconic city in Eren, establishing a dynasty rooted in strength, wisdom, and fire.
Through this lineage, the Sulon family holds an almost unchallengeable authority, their heritage a cornerstone of their claim to the throne. Within the Royal Court, they command respect and awe, embodying both the majesty and ferocity of their dragonkin ancestors. This has established the monarchy driven system of Drekaya since it's inception, and the sturcture of this governmentiall body stands proudly on both it's dedication to it's people and the legacy for which it owes it's foundation.
While the monarch of the Sulon family retains absolute power, they rely on a loyal court of barons, nobles, and officials to manage the sprawling empire. These individuals serve as advisors, governors, and enforcers of the monarch's will, ensuring that the empire's laws and policies are upheld across its many territories.
The High Barons: Whilst both pedigree and achievement allow Drekaya's noble class to be full of Barons who own estates throughout the empire, there are powerful landholders who govern entire key regions of Eren known as the high barons, who are picked from amidst this ilk. The high barons swear fealty directly to the monarch. Their loyalty is rewarded with privileges and influence, though betrayal or failure is met with swift retribution.
Council of Scales: An advisory body consisting of scholars, generals, and diplomats, the Council of Scales provides insights and recommendations on matters of law, war, and diplomacy. While influential, its members are subordinate to the monarch's will.
The Flamebearers: A special cadre of officials tasked with maintaining the traditions of Eldra the Black. They oversee ceremonies, rituals, and the preservation of Sulon lore, ensuring that the dynasty's legacy endures.
