The Crimson Corsairs

The Crimson Corsairs are a rogue faction born from dissent within the Lapis Corsairs about 20 years ago. While the Lapis Corsairs have largely shifted toward trade and legitimate business, the Crimson Corsairs view this transition as a betrayal of their roots. They see piracy, plunder, and slave trading as the true legacy of the Azmith coast and are determined to keep that legacy alive. Operating as pirates, mercenaries, and ruthless slave traders, the Crimson Corsairs reject the disciplined structure of their predecessors. Their captains are not appointed by merchant councils but rise through cunning, strength, and mutiny. These ships are ruled by fear and loyalty forged in blood, where the crew’s allegiance is bought with promises of wealth and spoils.

Unlike the honor-bound Lapis Corsairs, the Crimson Corsairs embrace chaos and brutality. They raid ships indiscriminately, extort coastal towns, and thrive on fear, leaving devastation in their wake. The Crimson Corsairs idolize the golden age of the Lapis Corsairs, viewing their violent traditions as a way to reclaim lost glory. They scorn the modern Lapis Corsairs as weak and cowardly, mocking their trade agreements and concessions to law and order. For the Crimson Corsairs, the only honor lies in the plundered gold, captured ships, and enslaved prisoners they bring back to their hidden ports.

As mercenaries, they are hired by factions and individuals who have no qualms about employing their ruthless methods. Whether raiding merchant fleets, blockading trade routes, or transporting illegal goods, the Crimson Corsairs thrive in the gray areas where greed eclipses morality. While the Lapis Corsairs struggle to redefine themselves as respectable merchants, the Crimson Corsairs revel in the chaos, ensuring that the shadow of piracy still haunts the seas.
