Khiravi Alliance
An alliance made up of the five strongest beastfolk tribes of the Shards.
The Khiravi Alliance is a formidable civilization forged from the unification of five ancient tribes in the treacherous Shardlands. Once plagued by conflict and mistrust, these beastfolk tribes set aside their differences to form a single, cohesive society under the banner of the Khiravi. Their unification was driven by a profound shared veneration of Khiri, a powerful spirit who served as their patron and guide for generations. It is in Khiri's honor that they adopted their new name, the Khiravi, a symbol of their collective devotion and strength. The five tribes that make up the Khiravi Alliance are culturally diverse, each bringing unique traditions, skills, and attributes to their collective identity:The Hitara: A proud feline beastfolk tribe with the traits of snow leopards, tigers, panthers, and lynxes, renowned for their agility, stealth, and prowess in ambush tactics. Their hunters and scouts are unmatched in the Shardlands, navigating its treacherous landscapes with ease. Typically used to living in small hunter-gatherer communities, they intersperse themselves with the rest of their allies, supporting them on hunts or in scouting areas from advantageous positions or the shadows.
The Karnsa: A sturdy and resilient ursine tribe known for their immense physical strength and unwavering resolve. They were renowned for their elaborate dens built into the sides of icy cliffs or crafted of stone, standing proud amidst the snow. The Karnsa are the backbone of the Khiravi’s warriors and builders, crafting camps and defending their lands with relentless determination.
The Lundar: A cunning lupine tribe with a deep connection to the natural world. Used to living in tight knight communities, they champion pack mentality and watch the backs of their neighbors. They serve as the shamans and crafters of the alliance, channeling the primal energies of the Shardlands to hunt and support allies in battle, whether on the field of battle or the bounds of the Khiravi's home.
The Jaecyr: A swift and clever avian tribe that has the traits of owls, excelling in aerial reconnaissance and diplomacy. Their keen minds and far-reaching vision have helped the Khiravi navigate complex alliances and plan their bold strategies. Even the leader of the Khiravi themself is an Owlkin originating from this tribe.
The Skagi: A mysterious cloven tribe with traits that liken them to elk, reindeer, and similar beings. They were always an enigmatic and secretive tribe, living isolated from others. Their willingness to become such avid members of the alliance came as a surprise to the rest of the Khiravi. Many of them are skilled in the arts of enchantment and magic. Their mastery of icy arcane abilities and archaic secrets has allowed many of them to serve as wise advisors, strategists, and lore keepers.
Others: Though the five mentioned tribes are the most numerous and involved within the heart of the Alliance, many other tribes fall under the same banner, standing in solidarity with their neighbors in the region.
Despite their distinct identities, the Khiravi tribes are united by their shared history of struggle and their collective reverence for Khiri. They view their alliance as a sacred pact, one that transcends bloodlines and old grievances. The Khiravi have developed a rich cultural tapestry that blends the traditions of all five tribes, from grand ceremonial dances to intricate crafts and powerful hybrid magic. The Khiravi civilization has become a powerhouse in the Shardlands, mirroring the might and influence of Eirilys itself. Their fortified settlements and sprawling cities are testaments to their ingenuity and cooperation, blending architectural styles and materials unique to each tribe. Their military forces, composed of the finest warriors from every tribe, are disciplined and highly versatile, capable of responding to any threat with unparalleled ferocity.
The Khiravi's unity is further galvanized by their shared mission: to find and rescue Khiri, their patron deity, whose mysterious disappearance has left a void in their spiritual lives. They believe Khiri’s absence is tied to the elves of Eirilys, whom they accuse of meddling with the delicate balance of the spiritual and material realms. This belief has fueled a simmering tension between the Khiravi and Eirilys, with the alliance sending envoys, spies, and even raiding parties to uncover the truth.
