Operation Heavy Hail was to be a combined push against the Central forces defensive line. It would comprise of two parts known as Heavy(Armor and Infantry) and Hail(Airborne and Glider Infantry) elements making a combined push towards industrial cities to cripple production. This failure lead to 793 aircraft/gliders lost, 1547 vehicles lost, 3,000 - 5,000 men MIA, and 697,628 KIA. This has been one of the largest allied failures in the war to this date.
