Ryntryyl

Basic Information

Anatomy

Ryntryyl are designated as "humanoid," which indicates the presence of bi-lateral symmetry with four limbs (two arms, two legs) attached to a centralized torso. They are some of the lankier humanoids in Vratixine 102.33, having been noted as presenting with long, lithe limbs capable of deceptive strength. Their hands display four long fingers and two thumbs capable of sometimes unnerving dexterity. With loose connective tissue borne from an origin planet of lower than average gravity, they are an all around flexible species more than capable of "double jointed" displays common in other species, and beyond. They have developed a hyper-efficient musculoskeleton system on account of their dependence on but general lack of oxygen on their origin planet. This allows for their muscle mass to be condensed without losing effectiveness, leading to their sleek but powerful body structure.

All Ryntryyl are entirely devoid of hair. Instead of hair on their heads like some humanoid species, Ryntryyl have tentacles that vary in length and thickness depending on the individuals. While shorter tentacles are more common, there are clusters of the species that produce offspring with tentacles that extend beyond their shoulders.

Ecology and Habitats

Ryntryyl thrive in deep space. Since the destruction of their origin planet due to the Centralian Cataclysm, they have been a primarily spacefaring species that work on ships. Their biology allows for them to be in low-grav environment for long periods of time, and many individuals far prefer it to the galactic standard gravity. Their eyes are extremely sensitive to light and as such their domiciles and the bridges they work on are usually flooded in the soft red glow of nearly infrared light.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Primarily carnivorous, though they are fully capable of omnivory. In bygone years they were a tribal hunter society, but they no longer have to rely on such crude methods to receive their food. Their hyper-efficient musculoskeletal system allows for them to consume large meals between extensive time intervals as they don't burn many calories through an average day's activity. This does, however, vary depending on the individual's metabolism.

Additional Information

Facial characteristics

Large void filled eyes dominate their otherwise delicate face. They lack irises, and instead function as almost entirely light absorbing pupil with a thick convex protective lens as their eye surface. This protective lens in translucent with the occasional pin prick of white "stars" against the endless black of their eye backing. These "stars" are positioned uniquely in the eyes of each Ryntryyl and, along with their markings, serve as a means of identifying individuals.

Geographic Origin and Distribution

Since the destruction of the Ryntryyl System ~3000 circan years ago, Ryntryyl can be found throughout the galaxy and are one of the most saturated species. Many are employed by the ITA and The Royal Navy as navigators because of their astral positioning abilities. Most spacefarers wishing to venture out of their quadrants will hire a Ryntryyl for the journey.

Average Intelligence

On average, one of the more intelligent species present in Vratixine, though like the vast majority of the species, intelligence varies greatly dependent upon the individual. Across the board, they have keen spatial intelligence and are supposedly more in tune with the planets and stars, though there is little hard evidence to back up this claim.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

Ryntryyl are renown throughout the galaxy for their ability to locate their position by instinctual astral positioning. A Ryntryyl in a foreign system will be able to sense their coordinates (to varying degrees of accuracy).

Body Tint, Colouring and Marking
All Ryntryyl (barring immense genetic variation) present with smooth black, deep indigo, or dark violet skin. This dark blanket of skin is broken up by cascading swatches of colored markings in the general shades of rose, red, turquoise and white, though some individuals present with coloring outside of the average range. Makings have a distinct focus around the face, with all individuals displaying "false eye" markings above or below their true eyes. Other areas of increased patterning tend to be the hands, the chest and the back. Some individuals have been recorded with little to no markings. This is believed to be caused by a lack of genetic variation in certain quadrants of the galaxy.
