The Tazza Highlands

If The Central Plains are known as the bread basket of the Empire, than the Tazza Highlands are its wine cellar. The rolling hills and temperate climate of this region makes it perfectly suited for orchards and vineyards of all varieties, and much of the Empire's fruit, wine, and olive oil comes from this region. The export of luxury goods has made this region rich and independent, and their distance from the central region across the great mountains means many of the nations here have maintained much of their original culture, and their people take great pride in their identities as Tazzani first, and imperial citizens second. Nevertheless, they are dependent on trade with the central region to maintain their great prosperity.
