Cyberweb

Many espouse that the general renaming of the "Internet" to the "Cyberweb" was a useless, trite, and even "edgy" in adoption, however, Robo-ethicists would disagree for a multitude of reasons. Most importantly, the Internet, while constantly changing and subject to no single being's control, was still 'dead' - If civilization died, so to would it, eventually. However, within its new form, the Internet does not simply cease. It lives, breathes, and makes choices on its own. Creatures made of pure information and data roam within, skirting through firewalls and encrypted streams like any byte of information, but it thinks, it feels.   The Cyberweb was not named to be to different, or just "cool," it has a purpose; for the new net lives all around us - when you speak into the vastness of data, it may just speak back.

Utility

The Cyberweb is a network of networks which contains almost everything digital, from public to private, including personal storage space, restricted government data, public information areas, private sector information, and everything in-between. It is the end-all-be-all center of information and data, able to connect everyone and everything to a single unified galactic network.   There is no one unified "center" of the Cyberweb, nor will there ever be, despite some institutions and corporations attempts. While one part may not be equal to another in influence and connections, it all eventually leads back to every other piece of information. This causes massive sects of the internet to be highly self referential, typically revolving around a few "HUB" areas, but never a single unifying one. Each HUB eventually dies out, changes, or is consumed by another to create the spaces within ever-changing.   Digital beings within the Cyberweb often house themselves within various free data housing centers, or paid, if they are particularly large and capable of generating income based on digital work alone. Some may have some physical presence within the "real" world, such as personal storage centers, physical property, or even mechanical bodies they pilot from the safety of the web. In many, many cases, creatures that live in this way see The Phaneron as their own real world, and forsake material reality.

Social Impact

Within the age of perfect inter-connectivity, being a individual which uses the Cyberweb to quote "have a life" unquote is extremely common, to the point where it is seen almost identical to having a social network in real life. It is common to find the sentiment of knowing everyone in your life completely physically and in-person as strange, not harboring a few "cyberweb friends" being so uncommon to the point of it being unusual. Many, in-fact, find living exclusively online (often using The Phaneron for the extra added interaction with those they know) much better to the "real" world, preferring the world so called "information-anarchy" where who you are and what you do can change at a moment's notice.   Entire sects of Cyber-Psychologists devote millions of credits to research and thousands of hours each studying this complex interconnecting web of individuals and how an "online persona" can be so completely different to how one would act in real life, that the concept of "who is the real you" no longer carries significant meaning anymore. The entire idea of a single person having a definable set of traits based on stimulus, while not impossible to consider the idea of, is potentially as complex as the universe itself.
Access & Availability
If you have lines to the Quantum Network via Quantum Communication, you can access the Cyberweb. It's everywhere. It's unanimous with civilization at this point.
There are entire "cities" within the Cyberweb of digital beings, either those who have transferred their mind into the machine, or those who were born of it. While these areas of commerce are completely disconnected from the "real" world, the people there are just as conscious, aware, and alive as any being made of meat.
