Transcendance: Time of Deprivation

The Time of Deprivation is 40 days where members of the Universal Transcendence focus on eliminating and removing a harmful or less than beneficial external or internal influence on their life. They seek to suppress this aspect of their lives and weaken it by the time the Deprivation has ended.   Devout followers of Universal Transcendence often go so far as to wear a bulbous tag on their chest called "Olden" that receives an input to display (in text) which should be the "Deprived Trait". The Olden will send a light shock at a random time each day meant as a penitent reminder to focus on the Deprivation. At the end of the time of Deprivation, they then destroy the object in a ritualistic ceremony where it is smashed with a hammer and reveals the object within often referred to as "Newna". This new object ranges from things such as toys (for children) to fine jewelry or gemstones for adults. The Olden's price typically reflects the object inside but many varieties only offer "archetypes" with a mystery item contained within.   Less devout members will typically purchase Olden or Light Olden which do not shock and leave them somewhere in their house (such as next to their bed) to conduct the ritual at the end of the month. Over the last few years, this has become far more common than devoutly wearing ones Olden.
