Rodentkin

It is not truly known where the rodentkin came from. Some say that they originate from the Fey realms and somehow wandered into our world. Others that they like the Messilux once where fey that where cast out and cursed to live in exile on our world. And some even claim that they are the result of fairy's intermingeling whit small rodents. Regardless their kind can be found here and there in forests and glades. Some rodentkin build their small villages close to dryads or fairy's, other in regions far from said fey magical beings. The one thing all rodentkin villages seam to have in common are the trees. All rodentkin love trees, especially fruit-trees. Those there homes are built far closer to said trees then most other civilized beings would build.   Rodentkin homes are sometimes barrows, under the roots of the same trees that feeds a family. Or up in the crown of a grand tree. Because of this few other mortals whom visit such a village will find anywhere to stay. Only in the exceedingly rear rodentkin towns might there be an inn built to house such strangers. As a society, rodentkin are merchants that categorically stays out of greater politics. When a area in which rodentkin is taken over by a new power, be it a human nation, orc horde or dwarven kingdom, the rodentkin will accept their new overlords whit out a fight and instead try and seel the new rulers their crops. Fruits and vegetables grown by rodentkin are said to be some of the best in the world. Tho they are also good at making wine and beer.   Rodentkin come in five sub-races. All of which can intermingle at will. And often do, as rodentkin seam to be attracted to their own opposites. What kind of rodentkin a child becomes is determined by its gender. A son will be the same sub-race as his father. And a daughter will be the same sub-race as her mother.

Mousekin

Brave (oftentimes to the point of stupidity), noble, humble and kind are words one could use to describe a mousekin. Often elected to be leaders of rodentkin villages mousekin at times enjoys a almost royal status among their own people. But as they are one of the most numerous of the sub-races of the rodentkin, far from every mousekin is a village elder. It most be said that the mousekin are known for their sense of duty and honor. When a mousekin gives his word, he will literally fight ogres to hold his word. Even tho a ogre could eat a mousekin in two to three bites.   As nearly all rodentkin, most mousekin are farmers. And this little mouse-men are true masters in growing and tending to apple, pear and nut trees. Also like most of their kin, they tend to make their homes under the roots of their oldest and most fruitful tree. Living in snug burrows that few non-rodentkin could ever fit into.
