Skeltar 'Flotsam'
Skeltar
A ruthless Ezaark scrap hunter, Skeltar is known for his exploits in the popular hyperlane convergence point; The Caldur Expanse. His ship; the Flying Flotsam, a heavily modified cargo freighter, is well known and feared by those who have escaped its grinders and magnaclamps.
Physical Description
General Physical Condition
Skeltar is an averagely built Ezaark. Slightly taller than most of them due to all the time he spends working and living in zero gravity. Like the rest of his species who leave their homeworld, he has cybernetic legs.
Body Features
Skeltar is tall for an Ezaark. Standing several inches taller than most of his contemporaries due to all the time he spends working in zero gravity. He is nothing special physically, having to consistently remind himself to exercise to avoid space borne muscle atrophy.
His legs, like many Ezaark, have been removed in favour of cybernetic counterparts. These are specially designed to be thermally efficient and to be unaffected by the coldness of space.
Facial Features
Skeltar, compared to other Ezaark, has quite gruff facial features by their standards. He has the standard pair of fleshy horns that jut out from the side of his head, olive green skin, pitted nostrils and jagged teeth, however he has a pronounced crest on his head as well as the collection of keratinous tubes that make up his 'hair' that he keeps neat (by Ezaark standards).
Specialized Equipment
It is in Skeltar's equipment where he really excels. His custom built composite armour is fully space capable, equipped with thermal protection and full life support as well as being resistant to light gunfire. It also comes equipped with a thrust pack that allows for diverse movement in zero gravity environments, perfect for the job roll of illegally boarding other peoples ships.
Attached to the thrust pack are two manipulator arms with three fingers and built in cutting torches that can assist Skeltar in cutting holes in ship armour, dismantling ship components or self defence. All in all, his suit has enough air and power to keep him warm and breathing for 12 hours in the vacuum of space.
Mental characteristics
Personal history
Skeltar, was born in a back alley slum on Caldur Primaris , his parents being too poor to find anywhere to live. As a result he grew up into a life of crime. Mostly just petty theft and nothing much more. However his true introduction to crime came when he was given the opportunity to serve onboard one of the ships owned by Captain Azrael Grimm, the notorious pirate.
Skeltar began as a cabin boy, eventually working his way up the ranks to a helmsman of one of the fleets smaller freighters. All the extra wealth he would acquire would get sent home to his family, who eventually managed to buy a small apartment and escape the slums. Skeltar continued his life of piracy under Captain Grimm, but all the while he yearned for more. With seemingly no room for advancement in rank in the pirate captains fleet he took the freighter that he had flown for all that time along with a small crew who felt the same as he did.
Initially, Captain Grimm was dead set on making an example of the mutineers who stole one of his ships, but Skeltar managed to hide somewhere within the Caldur Expanse, a place he knew from growing up on Caldur Primaris. The small crew made their home in an asteroid within the expanse, laying low until Grimm was off their trail.
After shaking off their former captain, Skeltar and his crew went to work doing what they did best; plundering unsuspecting ships. The Alliance territory of the Caldur Expanse was and still is one of the busiest hyperlane convergence points in the galaxy for civilian and commercial traffic. Doing what they could with their small freighter the crew rigorously upgraded their ship, fitting it with an array of weapons and tools for the dismantling of ships.
Unlike most pirates, Skeltar does not target the valuables onboard - though his crew to go out in their space suits and retrieve these aswell - but more the raw material that makes the ship. Their ship, the Flying Flotsam, is equipped with an array of magnaclamps and grinders. the clamps attach to the hull of the target ship while the grinders take the armour plates apart and filter the material through tubes and an onboard forge that melts it all down and separates it to an extent. It is then stored in a Sirasion built hyper-compression chamber until it can be sold to any local scrap merchant.
Skeltar has developed quite the reputation for his chosen method of clamping onto an enemy ship that has just come out of hyperdrive, jamming their coms so they cant call for help and using the grinders on the Flotsam to cut the hull apart piece by piece, caring little for the ships occupance who are often quickly sucked out into the vacuum of space. Should the ship be too big to be harvested in its entirety, Skeltar will often retreat to a distance far enough just so the unfortunate crew believe he has left them alone, only to then blast the remains of their ship into oblivion moments later.
Personality Characteristics
Motivation
Skeltar is simple, he is motivated by his own greed. For him its all about the next payout. The only thing that'll distract him from a monetary price of galactic credits for trading in scrap is the opportunity to study and more importantly dismantle an unseen piece of technology. Skeltar has a keen interest on ships, particularly from the Alliance, Sirasion Empire and Skaronien Council and has been known to go out of his way to attempt to aquire parts from said ships.
Savvies & Ineptitudes
Skeltar could be considered a cold and calculative individual, but is very good at picking his battles. He often knows when a fight isn't worth it and has lost very few as a result.
