New Suez
New Suez is a small city-state that is based around a crashed dreadnought, which crashed on a dwarf planet in the final battle of the sector's previous rulers, the Gratax. The city also lies next to a well-used hyperlane, and is often used as a stop-off point for ships to go further into the sector. Despite the city's low population of 700,000, the city exerts a surprisingly large amount of influence over the sector, and Suezians are renowned for recycling and reusing almost everything, and even some of the dreadnought's old systems are still in use, including the reactor, atmosphere control and gravity plating, even some of the old weaponry is used as defence against attackers. The city's governmental building is repurposed from the bridge and officer quarters of the dreadnought, and control of many of the city's vital services can be found here.
Many merchants and traders inhabit the large docking facilities orbiting the dwarf planet, and these facilities can often be seen selling out-of-sector goods and services, though at a highly inflated price compared to most places in the galaxy.
To natives of New Suez, there is little to no difference between space and a terrestrial world, having grown up in an controlled atmosphere and artificial gravity, and most are used to cramped spaces and limited supplies. This makes them ideal starship crews, and many leave their home to pursue the dream of trade and exploration away from the Gellatrian Subsector, only to return with new technology and items for their friends and relatives to utilise.
