Bombardier Droid

The Bombardier is a war droid designed as a back line support unit as well as a mobile heavy weapons platform, while slow moving, the Bombardier packs a heavy punch at range with its twin, purpose built XZ-3 Raycasters, stopping any oncoming enemy formation in its tracks.

Power Generation

The Bombardier is equipped with a war droid power matrix designed with pure weapon strength and sustainability in mind. The droids's position on the battlefield is often that of back line support or defence of fortifications, there for its power core must perform accordingly.

Propulsion

While the Bombardier is equipped with three heavy and powerful legs it is not capable of the same maneuvers as some of its lighter weight counterparts. Instead of having its legs end on a single pronged blade, they instead end with two separate articulating claws, allowing the droid to make itself into a stable firing platform no matter the terrain, as well as remain stable when firing on the move.

Weapons & Armament

The Bombardier is equipped with two main guns and a set of light fusion mortars. The mortars are similar to those used on the old infantry droids of the high tekno wars in concept, providing a long range indirect weapon. However the main strength of the Bombardier comes in the form of its twin, purpose built XZ-3 Raycasters. These weapons remain stowed behind the head of the droid while it is in transit, the entire head section of the droid locking down while the guns are stowed. 
When the Bombardier has chosen a target it deploys the two weapons and extends its neck to have the head turn into a fully functional turret. The Raycaster weapons fire powerful bolts of searing hot plasma that are programmed to explode violently at a chosen range, making them an effective anti aircraft weapon.

Armor and defense

Some variants of Bombardier are equipped with shield projectors on each of their legs to protect itself from incoming projectiles

Sensors

As well as a set of advanced visual sensors, The Bombardier is equipped with advanced targeting apparatus. The two stage system allows the droid to effectively track and engage fast moving and hard to hit targets. It uses a dedicated laser range finder to set the range on its air burst weapons combined with a duel sensor node that scans the targets electrical systems, feeding the enemy vehicles system information directly back to the Bombardier, allowing it to make pin point adjustments based on the state of the target.
