House Rules

  • Both the Lucky feat and the Halfling's Lucky trait is banned.
  • There is no alignment system in place in this campaign. Plan your character builds appropriately.
  • Death saves only reset on a long rest & death save rolls will be made by the DM Screen secretly.
  • We will use rules as written carrying capacity, as it is easy to track in D&D Beyond. You will have a safehouse to keep your other belongings when not on your person.
  • Natural 20s and Natural 1s do count as critical successes and failures when attempting skill checks. However, it is noted that getting one does not automatically grant what you wish in the fullest form. For example, if you try to intimidate a king of a country who directly is against you to give up his throne, a critical success may only mean that he will not kill you as you stand, and a critical fail may mean he sends an army to pursue you at all costs until they guarantee your death. Critical successes and failures will be scaled to the act and all factors surrounding it.
  • All improvements due to leveling do not automatically happen upon level up. Your characters must take in-game time and actions to achieve these. This includes things like gaining health via tonics, stat points from training, learning abilities from other individuals, etc. Please get with the DM for any related questions.
  • Potions and other consumables will be played rules as written and take one full action to use or administer to others unless otherwise stated in the description of the object.
  • I will not typically disclose the 'bloodied' condition on monsters, and instead will describe their general state of being when asked.
  • When applicable, I would like the players to track things like ammunition and mundane items.
  • If you have proficiency with a skill, and the appropriate tool (with proficiency if offered) then you get advantage on the roll. For example, to open a door with proficiency with athletics while having a crowbar, or using thieves tools while proficient with sleight of hand.
