The Mirrored Sea

The Mirrored Sea is the largest and most mysterious body of water on the Plane of Gredion. The Mirrored sea borders the lands on both East and Western sides of the plane, and while what seems to be two seperate bodies of water, is actually just one singular sea- connected via what is commonly refered to as 'The Fray', a liminal conjoining 'realm' that acts as an intermediary state between the sides of water. Because of this, boat travel between Eastern and Western sides of the world is generally avoided by most empires, and is relegated to inner-planner sailing via The Grand Basin

Localized Phenomena

The Fray

The Mirrored Sea has a unique and strangely unpredictable magical quality to it, seeing not only as it is a singular sea that still somehow connects the flat plane of Gredion, but also because it has been both a friend and a foe to the races who are brave enough to tread its waves. Seeing as how the Ocean should not logically connect, yet it does, The Ocean has gained a terrifying reputation.
The Ocean is of an indiscernible length, as when the ocean is sailed upon, those who set out from one end, into 'The Fray': The foggy, unknown, and often claimed magical or extra-planar expanse between the 2 sides of the Ocean where time does not exist, with the goal of reaching the other side of the plane find that they are subjected to a journey of arbitrary length (Though some would claim it to be predestined by the gods). Voyages have been reported by sailors as sometimes taking a mere few days- an incredibly short and seemingly impossible amount of time to traverse it, but conversely- some ships set into the fray have returned to world which they departed from hundreds of years ago, seemingly only been at sea for, to them, only months. Strangest of all some ships, not uncommonly, are simply never seen again- A fact that makes most people fearful of the Ocean, and those sailors who risk the fate of a foggy limbo.

Traversing the Fray

While many academies all across the plane have sought to make sense of this unexplainable phenomena, no one truly knows what actually lies within the fray, or why it chooses to keep some of the ships that traverse it. A good many expeditions sent out from various empires have simply never returned, and those that had returned, whether in their logical time or far into their future, have reported more or less the same sentiment, that there is no logical or scientific way to explain the Fray, nor should there prove to be any logical way to map it. Despite these accredited universities and scholars that have turned their eyes towards the horizon in search of an answer, there exist many a sailors who claim to know a 'secret course' or certain 'particular way' or a 'charm' or 'offering to a god' that has granted them a safe voyage. Whether these crews are honest or just lucky is anyone's guess, however several crews have in fact made numerous successful voyages back and forth.
