Imhotep was an Ancient Egyptian intellectual and skilled warrior who defended Egypt against a Brood invasion in 2620 BC. To protect humanity, he founded the secret Brotherhood of the Shield/Spear.

Early Life
Imhotep was born in Egypt around 5000 years ago. A commoner by birth, his intelligence and determination enabled him to rise through the ranks to become one of Pharaoh's most trusted advisors, as well as the architect of the pharaoh's tomb, the Step Pyramid. He served under Pharaoh Khasekhemwy Khasekehemui of the Second Dynasty, the ruler of the upper and lower kingdoms of Egypt. Khonshu dictated his will (book) on Earth to Imhotep, the legendary intellectual.Brood Invasion
In 2620 BC, the Brood, an extra-terrestrial race of parasitic insectoids, invaded Egypt and Pharaoh Khasekhemwy Khasekhemui, ruler of upper and lower kingdoms of Egypt, was killed, ending the Second Great Dynasty. Imhotep gathered a force of warriors, including a young En Sabah Nur, the First Horsemen, and his era's Moon Knight, to fight back. Imhotep killed the Brood Queen himself.Imhotep's Brotherhood
This victory inspired generations to follow. Named after Imhotep's own Shield and Spear, the Brotherhood of the Shield and the Spear continued Imhotep's work, though both brotherhoods eventually fell and became corrupt in their own ways. Under Leonardo da Vinci's observatory workshop in Florence of the year 1497, Imhotep's statue was seen along with other masters of the Brotherhood, with his statue posing his upright posture holding his spear straight up and his shield parallel to his abdomen. City of the DeadImhotep's heart existed into the 21st century. It was located in a scavenged wooden chest. Through mystic absorption, powers related to the four Horsemen of Apocalypse were obtained by the Sons of the Jackal to desperately fight the Moon Knight. The absorbers also obtained some memories of the horsemen fighting the Brood with the priest and En Sabah Nur.
